Why Us?
As a leading center for integrative medicine clinic, YatHei Medical Center is dedicated to bridging traditional Chinese medicine with scientific principles of modern Western medicine . More than a conventional clinic offering single treatments, we embrace a globally informed model of integrative care, providing patients with comprehensive, safe, and evidence-based healthcare solutions.
Our HK Chinese medicine practitioners adopt a thorough approach to every case, combining conventional diagnostics with traditional assessment methods. By integrating these two paradigms, we provide patients with a cohesive approach to care that is both technologically advanced and firmly grounded in holistic healing traditions.
Vision and Values
YatHei Medical Center is more than just an integrative medicine clinic– we stand as a steadfast pillar of support for patients throughout their healing journey. From clinical decision-making to the finer details of treatment, every medicine practitioner on our HK team upholds a shared set of core principles to ensure the highest standards of integrative medical practice in Hong Kong.

Patient safety is our highest priority.
At YatHei Medical Center, our team follows a systematic integrative medicine approach that begins with a thorough understanding of the patient’s medical and diagnostic reports from Western medicine. We then apply Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles using the four traditional diagnostic methods — observation, listening and smelling, inquiry, and palpation — to establish a TCM syndrome differentiation. Based on this assessment, we provide individualized treatments through Chinese herbal prescriptions, acupuncture, moxibustion, tui na, and other suitable therapies. Our goal is to build an integrative medicine model of care through close collaboration between public and private healthcare sectors, offering patients comprehensive, safe, and truly holistic medical solutions in Hong Kong.

Comprehensive Evidence-Based Medical Services
In addition to our Traditional Chinese Medicine services, we collaborate with Western medicine centers to offer holistic solutions that guarantee the highest quality in diagnostics, premium Chinese herbs, and efficient logistics. This approach provides comprehensive, evidence-based medical services to our corporate partners and their patients.

The Big Data Era and One Health
As we navigate the emergence of big data, standards of care, and patient safety, it is essential to adopt clinical practice guidelines from Mainland China, as well as international standards from the US, UK, Australia, and Hong Kong. In addition to Traditional Chinese Medicine practices such as herbal remedies, acupuncture, TuiNa, and moxibustion, our services focus on cancer care, women’s health, and pain management.
We are committed to providing the best treatment for cancer patients and their families. Our cancer care program spans the continuum from early intervention to palliative care, addressing the needs of patients undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy. This comprehensive approach helps patients manage the adverse effects of conventional treatments and supports them in reclaiming their health-related quality of life.

Providing Evidence-Based Health Supplements
In addition to our professional medical services, we offer consultancy for the development of evidence-based health supplements. These supplements can play a crucial role in facilitating the rehabilitation of cancer patients within our integrative medicine clinic framework.

Quality Control of Our Chinese Medicine Prescription
As an integrative medicine clinic, we strictly adheres to standardized prescription protocols and dual-verification procedures. Before and after dispensing, patient identity and prescription details are reconfirmed to ensure the dispensing error rate remains below 10%, safeguarding medication safety (1). All Chinese herbal granules are properly stored and accurately dispensed in accordance with the requirements set by the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong, with detailed instructions provided to assure patient confidence (2). These safety standards are as rigorous as those applied in Western medicine, ensuring all patients receive professional and safe medication management (3). We utilize small-package modern granule sachets, allowing real-time patient feedback during use as an additional safety layer.

This can cause temporary redness, congestion, or mild blistering at the site.
By drawing blood toward the surface of the skin, cupping is sometimes described as a non-invasive form of bloodletting therapy.
It is used as an alternative therapy for various conditions, including fever, chronic lower back pain, poor appetite, indigestion, hypertension, acne, eczema, psoriasis, anemia, post-stroke rehabilitation, nasal congestion, infertility, and menstrual pain.

FAQ
Are the Chinese herbs that I am taking safe?
Yes. There are important points to consider. China’s National Pharmacopoeia governs over 11,711 kinds of Chinese herbal medicines and prepared Chinese medicines. In Hong Kong, registered Chinese medicine practitioners follow List 1 and 2, which includes 636 herbs by Law. We strictly adhere to clinical guidelines for cancer care when selecting specific herbs. These guidelines provide evidence of the benefits of Chinese medicine for drug compliance, effectiveness, survival, rehabilitation, and patient-reported outcomes in cancer patients. Each patient receives a personalized prescription based on their specific cancer diagnosis and dosage requirements. As a premier integrative medicine clinic, our delivery of Chinese herbs follows the best clinical practices and ensures safety. If you have any concerns about specific products, we strongly recommend consulting a healthcare professional for advice.
Acupuncture is an invasive procedure, and standard operation procedures are crucial to minimize the risk of infection. Our medical center strictly adheres to infection control guidelines issued by the Department of Health, including:
- Infection control measures for Traditional Chinese Medicine clinics
- Infection control (such as hand hygiene of Chinese Medicine Practitioner, patient’s skin disinfection) and protective measures during acupuncture procedures before and after the insertion of needles.
- Procedures for handling needlestick injuries
- Cleaning (such as sterile needles) and disinfection methods for medical devices
According to the Code of Professional Conduct for Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners in Hong Kong, Chinese medicine practitioners must take professional responsibility for their patients. Therefore, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and care. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Are there always incidences of Chinese herbs impairing liver or kidney functions?
No. As a leading integrative medicine clinic, we strictly adhere to clinical guidelines for cancer care when selecting specific herbs. These guidelines provide evidence of the benefits of Chinese medicine for drug compliance, effectiveness, survival, rehabilitation, and patient-reported outcomes in cancer patients. Every integrative medicine practitioner on our HK team provides personalized prescriptions based on their specific cancer diagnosis and dosage requirements. Our delivery of Chinese herbs follows the best clinical practices and ensures safety. If you have any concerns about specific products, we strongly recommend consulting a healthcare professional for advice.
What is the quality of Chinese herbs?
Quality is strictly regulated at our center. In Hong Kong, registered Chinese medicine practitioners adhere to List 1 and 2, which govern the application of 636 herbs. Therefore, the herbs we use are specifically selected based on clinical guidelines for cancer care and the legal frameworks of integrative medicine in HK. We exclusively purchase Chinese herbs from vendors who follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and are associated with top Chinese medicine hospitals.
Are there any potential herb-drug interactions?
After the Hospital Authority launched the ICWM (Integrated Chinese-Western Medicine) project in 2014, it established the “Chinese Medicine Safety Expert Panel,” consisting of pharmacists and Chinese medicine pharmacists who conduct systematic literature reviews to list all the Chinese medicines included in the collaboration protocols.
Additionally, in collaboration with the School of Pharmacy at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), they developed the “Cancer Probot” Focusing on medications commonly used in cancer treatment, this database compiles interaction information using AI, experiments, clinical data, and expert consensus.
Patients need to authorize our clinic to access the “e-Health” system and download their relevant reports. Our Integrated Chinese-Western Medicine Centre will then conduct analyses based on international and mainland clinical guidelines, as well as the CUHK Chinese-Western Medicine Interaction Database, to avoid potential conflicts between Chinese and Western medications.
Are Chinese medicines free from side effects?
Chinese medicines are not entirely free of side effects, but these are usually few or mild and depend on the individual’s constitution. The use of Chinese herbs in Hong Kong is regulated, and when prescribed appropriately by qualified practitioners, herbal medicine is generally safe and well-tolerated.
At our center, all Chinese medicines are prescribed by registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners who carefully select herbs based on evidence-informed clinical guidelines for cancer care. Each patient receives a personalized prescription tailored to their specific cancer diagnosis, treatment stage, and body constitution. When used according to best clinical practices, the Chinese herbal medicines we provide are generally safe. If you have any concerns about specific products or any sensitivities to certain herbs, we strongly recommend informing us in advance so we can adjust the prescription and help minimize any potential side effects.
What are the benefits of using Chinese medicine for cancer care?
The benefits of Chinese medicine for cancer patients in terms of drug compliance, effectiveness, survival, rehabilitation, and patient-reported outcomes. The successful model of Chinese medicine hospitals in China has shown that patients benefit greatly when a clear diagnosis is established prior to Chinese medicine treatment. With the collaboration and support of our HK medicine practitioners and other allied health professionals in Hong Kong, we have established seamless communication across disciplines to ensure the best patient-centered clinical care. This approach also safeguards the safety of our patients during transitions between public and private sectors, minimizing delays and waiting times in Hong Kong.
What are the underlining concerns if I use conventional or Chinese Medicine in parallel?
A:Patients should proactively inform their doctor about all Western medicines, health supplements, and traditional Chinese medicines they are currently taking, so that the doctor and TCM practitioner can jointly assess for any drug interactions.
We also hope that patients are aware of the names of the Western medicines they are taking to cross-reference different databases. We emphasize thorough communication with patients to help them understand the focus and limitations of TCM treatment at different stages.
What are the roles of Chinese medicine in cancer care?
Traditional Chinese Medicine mainly serves to “enhance efficacy and reduce toxicity” within an integrative medicine framework. Domestic and international clinical guidelines, supported by research, show that integrating Chinese and Western medicine at different stages can help reduce drug resistance, improve treatment outcomes, increase survival rates, and enhance patients’ quality of life. In Mainland China, treatment usually starts with confirming the cancer diagnosis before introducing Chinese medicine as a complementary therapy within integrative oncology care. With collaboration from Western medical professionals, patients can confidently use Chinese medicine and acupuncture across various cancer types.
Beyond oncology, many patients also live with chronic conditions. We develop individualized integrative medicine plans at different stages and provide comprehensive guidance for referrals to both public and private sector specialists.
