We are deeply honored that Dr. Wendy Wong was invited by the Hong Kong Obesity Society to share evidence-based Traditional Chinese Medicine approaches at the public seminar “中西減重面面觀健康” held on November 22, 2025, delving into the management of obesity and chronic diseases.
The seminar is headed by Dr. CHAN Man Pan Patrick, President of the Hong Kong Obesity Society, who invites three experts to shed light on the problems caused by obesity and share various weight loss approaches. Dentist Dr. Lai Man Lung discussed the severe impacts of diabesity (diabetes combined with obesity) on the body and pointed out that over half of Hong Kong adults suffer from periodontal pocket issues. Dr. Wendy Wong shared her personal journey in weight loss and managing chronic diseases, emphasizing the importance of adjusting daily routines, engaging in appropriate exercise, and incorporating Traditional Chinese Medicine interventions such as Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture for weight management. Dr. So Choi Kwan explained the definition of obesity, noting that individuals with mild obesity can achieve weight loss through lifestyle changes combined with Chinese and Western medicine, while those with moderate obesity may require endoscopic treatments, and severe cases might need gastric reduction surgery.

The event included a Q&A session, allowing the public to better understand the importance of weight management and gain new insights into healthy weight loss.
The most effective weight loss strategy involves regular exercise, a balanced diet, cultivating healthy lifestyle habits, and integrating both Chinese and Western medical therapies. This comprehensive approach helps maintain a moderate weight and build a healthier future.
Weight loss is not easy, and consistent dietary control coupled with appropriate exercise is crucial.
