In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, Yat Hei Medical Centre, in collaboration with the Cancer Information Charity Foundation organized a bouldering activity. This event provided breast cancer survivors and their caregivers with a free experiential opportunity aimed at improving arm mobility, alleviating swelling and discomfort, and promoting physical and mental well-being. The event attracted around 30 participants, who came together to face their fears and regain their confidence.
The atmosphere on the day was relaxed and cheerful. In addition to Dr. Wendy Wong, CMP Tina Lee, and CMP Vincent Chow, there is also Physiotherapist Selina Cheung and Kan Kit Ying Sandy. Under the step-by-step guidance of bouldering gym owner Day Leung, coach Chris Tang and Ng Ping Nam, the participants safely enjoyed the fun of climbing, bravely overcoming their fear of heights. Through climbing, they rediscovered their confidence and strength, temporarily leaving behind the psychological burden of cancer.

The event also featured a professional sharing session. Dr. Wendy Wong a registered Chinese medicine practitioner, provided a “Little Tips for Promoting Blood Circulation and Reducing Swelling,” explaining daily practices to enhance blood circulation and alleviate swelling and fatigue. Physiotherapist Selina Cheung guided participants on managing lymphedema and improving shoulder and arm mobility after surgery.

The event concluded successfully amidst laughter and emotion. A bouldering session for male survivors will be held on April 12. We look forward to more brave individuals joining us to continue demonstrating resilience and hope through action.
