《中醫藥在肺癌治療的角色》Booklet

The CancerInformation.com booklet “中醫藥在肺癌治療的角色” funded by the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Development Fund, was published in November 2024. The content was co-authored by Dr. Wendy Wong, Tina Lee, Cherry Guo, Chan Kwun Lung, Dr. Chow Ting Yu, and Chinese Medicine Practitioner Lee Mei Kuen.

This booklet aims to enhance the understanding of patients and caregivers regarding the collaboration between Chinese and Western medicine and the role of Chinese medicine in lung cancer treatment. The content references clinical guidelines for the integrated treatment of lung cancer using Chinese and Western medicine from mainland China and overseas, as well as Chinese herbal medicines suitable for use in Hong Kong. It also covers Chinese medicine or acupuncture treatment plans for early, middle, and advanced stages of lung cancer, key points of Chinese-Western medical collaboration, and evidence-based medical content, providing practical references for lung cancer patients and healthcare professionals.

The Hong Kong Department of Health announced in 2024 that lung cancer is one of the most common cancers in Hong Kong, ranking as the leading cause of death among the top ten cancers. The high incidence of lung cancer poses a severe threat to global health, making it a focal point of concern for the medical community and public health sectors worldwide. Against this backdrop, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), as a vital component of China’s traditional medical heritage, is increasingly demonstrating its unique advantages and clinical value in the treatment of lung cancer.

This booklet explores the application of TCM in the treatment of lung cancer during its early, middle, and late stages, emphasizing the collaboration between modern medicine and TCM. We hope this booklet will enhance the understanding of lung cancer patients and their caregivers regarding the role of TCM in treatment, promote the integration of Chinese and Western medicine, and thereby improve treatment outcomes and quality of life.

Highlights Include:

  •  Application of TCM Diagnostic Methods in Lung Cancer· TCM Treatment Principles and Strategies
  •  How TCM Serves as an Adjunctive Therapy
  •  How TCM Alleviates Treatment Side Effects
  •  The Concept and Advantages of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Treatment
